How to hire a contractor

The easiest way to find a quality roofing contractor is by using our referral system. If you choose to locate a contractor on your own, here are some tips that should help you in your search:

  1. Get a list of references from the roofing contractor.
    Contact a few of them to double check the roofer’s reliability and craftsmanship.
  2. Is the contractor offering quality roofing material?
    Not all shingles are the same, you can learn about different roofing materials here, or have one of our preferred contractors contact you in regards to available roofing products.
  3. Can the contractor explain the entire roofing system to you?
    Have they checked all the parts of your roof to provide an accurate estimate?
  4. Is the roofing contractor insured?
    Accidental damage can happen during installation, make sure you are protected if it occurs.
  5. Does the contractor install to manufacturers specifications?
    Do they use proper fastening techniques?
  6. Will the roofing contractor leave your property the way they found it?
    What type of cleanup is involved after the job is completed?
  7. What local building codes apply to your house?
    Will the contractor follow these codes?
  8. What types of underlayment’s will be applied to the deck?
    Does your house need additional waterproofing materials due to ice dams or collecting water?
  9. What type of warranty are you getting?
    Does the contractor or manufacturer honor these warranties?
